The fuel pump together with the fuel sensor at the petrol engine is in the fuel tank. At the diesel engine the fuel pump is built in the fuel pump of high pressure (FPHP), the fuel sensor from above, on the fuel tank.

The sensor of fuel consists of a float and a potentiometer. When falling level of fuel, also the fuel sensor float falls. The float connected with a potentiometer increases at the same time sensor resistance. As a result tension on the device showing fuel level falls, and the shooter specifying fuel level, deviates in the direction of "leeg" – empty.

Prevention

At removal of the fuel pump the effluence of a small amount of fuel is possible. Fuel vapors poisonous and easily ignite therefore it is necessary to pay attention to good ventilation of a workplace. Not to use naked flame, fire-dangerous!

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To disconnect a weight(s) cable from the rechargeable battery.

Prevention

At the same time from memory of radio the anticreeping code and the adjusted radio stations is erased. The battery cannot be disconnected at the included ignition, otherwise the control unit of system of injection of fuel will fail. Before a detachment it is necessary to read instructions in subsection 10.11.1 and subsection 10.19.11.

2. To cut a carpet at perforation to the right of the lever of the emergency brake.
3. To unscrew a protection.
4. To disconnect the connecting plug of the sensor of fuel and the fuel pump, for this purpose to raise the small screw-driver side lock uvulas.
5. To weaken collars and to disconnect pipelines of giving and return of fuel.

Prevention

For simplification of installation to mark fuel-supply lines with an adhesive tape.

6. To unscrew a cap nut special VW-3217 adaptation. If near at hand there is no tool, to unscrew a bayonet cover easy blows of the hammer to a wooden core.

Prevention

Sparks should not be.

7. To take out a flange and a sealing ring from an opening of the fuel tank.
8. Turn to release from the bayonet lock to the left and to take out the fuel supply block.

Prevention

Before removal to enclose rags for collecting the following fuel.

9. To take out the fuel sensor from the lower part of the case.
10. To disconnect a hose of supply of fuel (1), a hose of return of fuel (2) and the connecting plug of the fuel pump (3) (4 – designation on the lower party of a flange).
11. To take out the screw-driver the top lock ring (1) and a bayonet ring (2) (on the lower part of the case).
12. To open the screw-driver the top part of the case (arrow) and to take out it from the lower part.
13. To take out the fuel pump from the lower part of the case.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To establish from above and from below sealing rings of the fuel pump (arrow) in the top and lower part of the case. To fix the top sealing ring by a lock ring, lower – a bayonet ring.
2. At assembly to oil a ring of the top part of the case.
3. To put on hoses of giving and return of fuel and to fix by collars. At the same time to pay attention to designation on the lower party of a flange (4) – see fig. in item 10.
4. To install the block of supply of fuel in the fuel tank, to turn to the right, having stopped thereby in the bayonet lock.

Prevention

Not to bend at the same time the fuel sensor. The sensor of fuel has to specify forward approximately under 30 °.

5. To oil and establish the condensed flange ring.
6. To establish a flange so that marking on a flange coincided with marking on the fuel tank.
7. To put on and tighten a cap nut.
8. To put on hoses of giving and return supply of fuel and to fix by collars.
9. To insert the plug.
10. To establish a protection.
11. To establish a carpet into place, to paste or fix by an adhesive tape.
