Air filter

Heating of air is regulated by the air gate in a branch pipe of inlet air and depends on temperature. At faulty heating of air emergence of the following malfunctions is possible:

  – low turns of idling in a warming up phase;
  – bad acceleration performance;
  – insufficient power, the maximum speed is not reached;
  – big fuel consumption.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To check reliability of fastening of vacuum hoses from the vacuum regulator to the regulator of temperature and from temperature regulator to a branch pipe of a butterfly valve.
2. To check hoses bending for cuts and porosity, if necessary to replace.
3. To remove the case of the air filter and to take out the filtering element.
4. To check situation and ease of the course of the adjusting gate in the case of the air filter palpation or by means of mirrors. The adjusting gate has to close the channel of warm air (1).
5. To remove a vacuum hose from the regulator of temperature and to connect the manual vacuum pump.
6. To create the pump vacuum and to check work and ease of the course of the adjusting gate. The gate has to block a branch pipe of cold air (2) (see fig. in item 4).
7. To start the engine and to allow to work on single turns.
8. To put on a vacuum hose (3) a connecting tube from bronze or with a notch and to check temperature regulator (see fig. in item 4).

Prevention

At the working engine position of the adjusting gate begins to depend on heating of the temperature regulator not less than in 20 sec.:
  – it is below 20 °C: the temperature regulator is open, the branch pipe of cold air is closed;
  – it is above 30 °C: the temperature regulator is closed, the branch pipe of warm air is closed;
  – between 20–30 °C: branch pipes of cold and warm air are open.
