Adjustment of a tension of a gear belt

Check of a tension

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To remove the top casing of a gear belt.
2. Turn of the handle of the control VW 210 device to weaken a spring.
3. To install the control device between a driving gear wheel of a cam-shaft and a gear wheel of the fuel pump of high pressure so that the gear belt passed between a sled and the measuring probe of the control device.
4. To measure and remember value of a tension of a gear belt.
5. To turn the crankshaft on one turn and to repeat measurement.
6. To calculate average value of two measurements and to compare to the required value. The required value: indication of a scale 12... 13.
7. If necessary to adjust a tension of a gear belt according to the required value.

Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To install the control device.
2. To pull a spring of the control device rotation of the handle to value of a scale 12... 13. Sideways on the measuring probe there is a steel uvula which supports limits of the control device. On a uvula the horizontal white strip is put. This horizontal strip has to coincide with edge of the control device. If is not present, to adjust a tension of a gear belt.
3. Weaken a nut of fastening of a tension roller.
4. To turn a tension roller nut adaptation (for example, MATRA-V159 or HAZET 2587) so that the white horizontal strip on a steel uvula coincided with edge of the case of the device.
5. To tighten a nut of a tension roller the moment of 45 N · m.
6. To turn the crankshaft on one turnover of the direction of rotation and to repeat measurement, if necessary to adjust.
7. To check the beginning of giving of the fuel pump of high pressure (see subsection 2.17.7.6).
Prevention

If near at hand there is no adjusting and control tool (the abroad, accident), it is possible to make a tension of a gear belt make-shifts. To pull a gear belt so that when twisting its big and index fingers, it was hardly twisted on 90 °. A tension of a gear belt after that, without postponing, to check the control device. Before check to avoid high turns of the engine.
