5.2.2.2. Check

The shock-absorber can be checked by hand.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To remove the shock-absorber.
2. To hold the shock-absorber in vertical position. To stretch and squeeze the shock-absorber.
3. The shock-absorber has to go evenly and smoothly with identical effort.
4. The faulty shock-absorber can be defined also during the movement on knocks and cods. Of course these noise can have also other reasons, for example the weakened screws, nuts, faulty bearings of wheels, hinged synchronizers. Therefore before replacement it is necessary to check the shock-absorber if necessary to give for bench check.
5. During the perfect work, small traces of damping oil not the basis for replacement of the shock-absorber. The main thing governed: if oil traces which do not extend further than from a shock-absorber cover (a sealing finger of a rod of the piston) to the lower support of a spring are noticeable, the shock-absorber is serviceable. Under a condition also that an oil spot opaque or dried from dust. Small leak of oil can be regarded even as advantage as there is a lubricant of a sealing finger and increase, thereby, in its service life.
6. At strong leak of oil to replace the shock-absorber. Damping oil is not filled in.
