1. To weaken bolts of wheels by the car standing on wheels.
2. To mark with paint the provision of a disk on a wheel nave in order that again to establish the balanced wheel on the former place.
3. To install the car on a trestle (jack) and to remove wheels.


If brake shoes are established again, before removal they need to be marked. Replacement of brake shoes outside inside and vice versa, and also with right on the left wheel are inadmissible. Replacement can result in uneven brake effect. It is recommended to apply the brake shoes resolved only for this car. It is necessary to replace at the same time all brake shoes of disk brakes even if only one block reached limit of wear.

4. To unscrew the lower screw of fastening of the case of the brake mechanism, holding at the same time the directing finger Rozhkov a key.
5. To cast away the case of the brake mechanism up. To take out brake shoes.



At the removed brake shoes not to squeeze out a brake pedal: otherwise the piston will be squeezed out from the cylinder case. If the piston is squeezed out through an oversight, to install it again. At the same time dirt should not get into a hydraulic system. Then to let out the air from the brake system.

1. To clean a soft metal brush the directing surface and installation sites of blocks in the mine of the case or to wipe with the rag moistened in gasoline. Not to apply the solvents containing mineral oils at sharp tools.
2. Before installation of blocks it is necessary to investigate to the touch a brake disk on lack of furrows. Furrows can be ottortsovana (at the plant) if they still have sufficient thickness. To Tortsevat always both brake disks, paying attention to a sufficient reserve for wear. If one brake disk is led up, then and the second has to be finished in the same way.
3. To measure thickness of brake disks (see subsection 7.5).
4. To check lack of cuts on a dustproof cap. Damaged to replace as the got dirt quickly will lead to depressurization of the brake mechanism then the brake mechanism (saddle) will demand removal and dismantling (factory work).
5. To press the piston back zapressovochny adaptation. It can be made as well a hammer shank, of a tree of strong breed. At the same time to pay special attention to that the piston was not warped, and the surface of the piston was not damaged, and also the dustproof cap was not damaged.


At a piston press fitting brake fluid from the brake cylinder is squeezed out in a broad tank. To observe liquid in a tank, if necessary to suck away surplus a rubber pear.

6. For suction it is possible to use a cylinder for production of air or a plastic bottle with a pacifier which adjoins only to brake fluid. Not to use drinking bottles! Brake fluid is poisonous and should not be soaked up by a mouth through a tube at all. To use a rubber pear.

At strong wear of brake shoes to check ease of a piston stroke. For this purpose to insert into the brake mechanism wooden a core, with assistance slowly to squeeze out a brake pedal. The piston has to be squeezed out and pressed freely. For check it is necessary to install the new brake mechanism. To pay attention to that the piston did not leave absolutely. At the complicated piston stroke it is necessary to repair the brake mechanism.

8. To establish both brake shoes in a brake support. To pay at the same time attention to that press springs stood evenly up and parallel to the upper edge of a block.
9. To lower down the case of the brake mechanism and to fix on a brake support by the new self-tightening screw the moment 35 N · m, holding at the same time the directing finger.


To each set of blocks of VW for repair of brakes the screw is used to fastening of the case of the brake mechanism self-tightening. These screws need to be installed always.

10. To screw a wheel, paying attention to marking. To remove the car from a trestle (jack) and to tighten bolts of wheels cross-wise the moment of 160 N · m.


To squeeze out on the place strongly and repeatedly the brake pedal, will not appear notable resistance yet. It carries out centering of brake shoes which take the place corresponding to their working situation.

11. To check the level of brake fluid in a broad tank, if necessary to add "Move" to a tag.
12. To grind in new brake shoes carefully, for this purpose repeatedly to slow down the car approximately from 80 km/h to 40 km/h with small effort to a brake pedal, allowing to cool down brakes between braking.


Earlier than through 200 km it is impossible to make sharp and full braking, needlessly.
