7.12. Production of air from the brake system

After each repair of brakes at which the system opened air could get into pipelines. In these cases from system it is necessary to let out the air. Availability of air in system can be determined by soft work of a pedal of a brake. It is necessary to eliminate leak of brake fluid and to let out the air from system.

The production of air is made by repeated pressing of a pedal of a brake. At the same time the assistant is required. Working receptions identical to all cars.

If from system the air is let out, then it is necessary to release from each brake cylinder separately as air can get into all cylinders. However if the brake mechanism (a saddle or a frame) or the brake cylinder was replaced or got over, then, as a rule, it is enough to let out the air from this cylinder.

Sequence of production of air:

  – brake mechanism or brake cylinder behind on the right;
  – brake mechanism or brake cylinder behind at the left;
  – brake mechanism in front on the right;
  – brake mechanism in front at the left.


Prevention

During production of air from back brakes not to press the balance weight of the regulator of brake forces down.


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To remove a dustproof cap from the valve of production of air of the brake cylinder, to put on a pure hose, to lower the second end in the capacity filled half with brake fluid (the corresponding hose and capacity are available in autoshops).
2. With assistance "to swing" a brake pedal until pressure in system which will be felt on the amplified brake pedal resistance rises.
3. If pressure is enough, to squeeze out a brake pedal against the stop and to hold.
4. To open the valve of production of air on the brake mechanism (or the brake cylinder), having unscrewed it half way a cap key. To collect the following liquid in capacity. To watch that the hose was constantly lower than the level of brake fluid in capacity.
5. As soon as pressure of liquid falls, to close the valve of production of air.
6. To repeat swing, before creation of pressure. To squeeze out a pedal against the stop and to hold, open the valve of production of air until pressure falls, to close the valve of production of air.
7. To repeat production of air from the cylinder until brake fluid does not flow down in capacity without bubbles.
8. After production of air to remove a hose from the valve of production of air, to put on a dustproof cap the valve.
9. To let out the air from other brake cylinder in the same way etc. To observe the sequence.

Prevention

During production of air to watch a broad tank from time to time. Level of brake fluid should not fall too low, otherwise through a tank air will get to system. To add only new brake fluid.


10. After production of air to fill a broad tank to a tag "MOVE".

Prevention

At repair to use a repair kit of AG VW for installation. The brake cylinder can be touched, without removing from the car if replacement of the case is not required. The partition is required in case cuffs are untight or jammed pistons. If in the case there are furrows or traces of a rust, the brake cylinder is replaced completely. It is not allowed to delete furrows or a rust with an emery paper. When replacing the brake cylinder to watch that the new cylinder had the same diameter as there are cylinders of two diameters.
