Check and adjustment of the moment of ignition

The tachometer and stroboscope is necessary for check and adjustment.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Prevention

To make adjustment of the moment of ignition only after installation of the distributor of ignition if value of the moment of ignition when checking turns of idling or contents WITH is outside the required value.


1. To switch off the conditioner (if is available).
2. To warm up the engine up to the working temperature. Temperature of cooling liquid is about 80 °C.
3. To kill the engine.
4. To connect a tachometer to the plug 1 and the plug 15 of the coil of ignition (the transformer of high voltage).

Prevention

At the same time ignition has to be switched off.


5. To connect a stroboscope to positive and negative poles of the battery. Capacitor to connect a clip to a wire of high voltage of 1 cylinder.
6. To remove a hose of ventilation of a case of the engine from the valve of adjustment of pressure and to arrange it so that only clean air came to it.
7. To allow the engine to work on the single or raised turns, the radiator fan will not turn on yet. Then to leave the engine to work at single turns, to disconnect the plug of the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid (2-polar).

Prevention

If the engine after a detachment of the plug stops, before restart to connect the plug to the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid. Otherwise the monitor will work in emergency operation at which the correct check and adjustment are impossible.


8. To allow the engine to work on test turns.
9. To direct stroboscope light to a viewing opening of a case of coupling.

Prevention

There is a danger of traumatizing at sudden turning on of the fan. Before check to disconnect its shtekerny connection.


10. Ignition is adjusted correctly if at flashes the ignition moment notch under the corresponding tag stands still.
11. If the moment of ignition lies outside control values, to adjust the ignition moment according to the required value.
12. For this purpose to weaken a little the lock screw(s) on the distributor and to turn the ignition distributor so that adjusting value coincided with the corresponding tag.
13. To tighten the fastening screw(s) the moment of 25 N · m.
14. To connect the plug of the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid (2-polar) and 3 times "to give gas".
15. To check idling adjustment.
16. To disconnect measuring devices at the switched-off ignition.
17. On HUNDRED VW to interview and erase the written-down malfunction from memory of the monitor. As a result of a detachment of the plug of the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid in memory malfunction "Is written down the sensor is faulty". Record in memory can be erased also a detachment of the rechargeable battery.
