10.11.2. Check of the rechargeable battery

There are two opportunities for check of the rechargeable battery. Depending on check various control devices are required.

Check of density of electrolyte

 Density of electrolyte and the measured tension draw the exact conclusion about charging of the rechargeable battery. The pear offered for sale in special shops is necessary for check.

The specific weight (electrolyte density) of electrolyte is higher, the float utaplivatsya less. It is possible to determine the specific weight of electrolyte in g/ml by a scale or in Baume's degrees (Ве). The following values have to be received:

PERFORMANCE ORDER
To check consistently each can of the rechargeable battery, all banks have to have the identical density of electrolyte (±0,02 g/ml). Otherwise the rechargeable battery is faulty

Check of the rechargeable battery under loading

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To connect the voltmeter to poles of the rechargeable battery.
2. To start the engine and to measure tension.
3. During start, at completely charged rechargeable battery, tension should not fall lower than 8 V (at a temperature of electrolyte about 20 °C).
4. If tension falls at once and in banks the different density of electrolyte is found, then the rechargeable battery is faulty.
5. The general tension can be also checked by a tester.

Prevention

If at measurement (duration 10 sec.) tension falls below the given value, then the rechargeable battery or is discharged or faulty.
